One of the best ways to remove latex paint from hardwood floor is to use a mixture of lemon juice and rubbing alcohol. Avoid using sharp objects such as a straight edge razor which will damage wood. Mix 3 4 cup of rubbing alcohol and 1 4 cup of lemon juice together. Several solvents will remove oil based paint but mineral spirits is the strongest one you.

Scrape what you can off. Carefully scrape off as much of the paint as you can with a putty knife grab a rag dip it into a mix of 3 parts rubbing alcohol 1 part lemon juice. A new spill of latex paint is easiest to clean off so if this is your problem then you should be able to overcome it in a matter of minutes. Pass the alcohol soaked rag over the paint spot to remove it.

Oil based paint spatters require mineral spirits but be careful not to soak the wood as this. Use a toothpick to remove latex paint from small crevices. Use a brush toothbrush size or larger if the rag isn t getting the job done. Step 1 scrape dried latex paint using a spatula or the edge of a credit card.

We had multiple colors splatters dried some for 20 years on one of our bedroom floors and it was all covered up with carpet. When we ripped the carpet out we found this mess. Rub it briskly over the floor. Pour four tablespoons of lemon juice in a cup of rubbing alcohol. Latex paint remover is the ideal solvent for removing latex paint but it won t work on oil based paint.

If you have a latex paint splatter on your wood that you cannot wipe away with plain water wipe it away with denatured alcohol instead. Cover the paint with the solution and let it sit for 5 minutes. While you are cleaning take care not to widen the area of staining by spreading the paint across the floor. Take a dishcloth and slightly wet it.

Rinse resoak and repeat as needed. Wash the rest away.
