From the basement or attic push the wire fish tape through the hole you have drilled.

Use a coat hanger to fish the wire through on the other side and tack your cables to a stud to keep them neat and out of the way in case there is any future wall cutting.
Hurry to the next floor now and drill a hole in the bottom wall.
Attach the wire or cable to a fish tape or coat hanger using electrical tape and feed it into the hole until it reaches the opening at the other end.

Now go up to your attic or down to the basement or crawlspace and drill a hole in the top or bottom wall plate in the same wall cavity as the outlet.

Pull the e thernet cable to its destination and you re set.
Once the string reaches the bottom go down to the lower opening and tie the cable and string together.
Pull the string from above to fish the wire through.
Drop a string from above instead.
Then attach your wire to the fish tape and pull it back through.
Disconnect the pull string from the old cable.

Have someone at the other end reach through the hole in the drywall grab the fish tape and pull it through with about a foot sticking out of the hole.
As their name suggests glow rods glow in the dark.
If you have another floor to go you can follow the same steps in the same order.
Once your hole is drilled you can shove a glow rod through the hole to start fishing wire attach your wire to the eyelet at the end and pull it back through.
Strip about 6 inches of outer sheathing from one end of the cable then hook the conducting wires and bare copper grounding wire through the loop at the end of the fish tape blade.
Bend the wires over then wrap several loops of electrical tape around the wires and the end of the fish tape.
